STEP Fusion welcomes the launch of Great British Energy and its commitment to accelerating clean, safe, and homegrown energy for the UK.
As the UK enters a new era of energy innovation, STEP Fusion is proud to be part of the national mission—developing the world’s first prototype fusion power plant at West Burton. Fusion offers a sustainable and abundant source of energy, using the same process that powers the sun.
The priorities outlined by Great British Energy supporting innovation, creating high-quality jobs, and delivering long-term energy security are already reflected in STEP’s programme of work on site and across the region:
- Creating thousands of skilled jobs being created in the East Midlands
- A former coal site transformed into a global hub for clean energy
- A programme of scientific and engineering excellence shaping the future of energy.
Ben Bradley Head of Communications and Engagement said:
“We’re proud to be part of the UK’s clean energy future. The launch of Great British Energy reinforces the importance of innovation, investment and long-term thinking. Fusion is a key part of that journey-offering a new kind of energy that’s safe, sustainable and built for generations to come.”
STEP Fusion looks forward to working alongside Great British Energy and other partners to help deliver a cleaner, more resilient energy system for the UK.
