STEP Fusion welcomes the Government’s Clean Energy Jobs Plan as a bold and timely commitment to building the workforce needed to deliver the UK’s clean energy future.
With Lincolnshire identified as one of four key growth areas to receive funding for clean energy skills pilots, this announcement directly supports the communities on our doorstep and directly supports the East Midlands Clean Energy Supercluster and our ambition to delivery high-quality jobs and regional growth.
More than 400,000 new jobs are expected to be created in the UK before 2030 which can only be good news for people living in and around the area.
The Clean Energy Jobs Plan is set to provide £20m of funding to support the transition of North Sea workers into the clean energy sector, £2.5m to support regional skills interventions in Cheshire, Lincolnshire and Pembrokeshire and expansion of the Energy Skills Passport and developing skills pathways.
Ben Bradley Head of Communications said:
“As a flagship programme within the national fusion mission, STEP Fusion is proud to play a role in creating high-quality jobs and developing the next generation of clean energy talent in areas such as HTS magnets and plasma physics. We look forward to working with local colleges, national partners and the new Office for Clean Energy Jobs to ensure the benefits of fusion are felt across the regions.”
